SUMMARY:FYPA Presents: Xanadu Jr. - A Roller Disco Mythology for Every Generation
DESCRIPTION:The year is 1980. Venice Beach is buzzing\, neon is humming\, and a frustrated young artist named Sonny Malone has just abandoned his mural of the nine Greek Muses. But the moment he storms off\, the impossible happens. The Muses burst to life (I’m Alive)\, and Kira\, secretly the Muse Clio\, hatches a plan to inspire Sonny toward artistic greatness. Disguised as an Australian roller skating dream girl\, she swoops in at the Santa Monica Pier and sets Sonny’s imagination spinning (Magic). His dream? To open a roller disco. \nBut inspiration has consequences. Kira’s success puts her one step closer to earning the legendary gift of Xanadu\, and her jealous sisters Melpomene and Calliope plot to curse her into falling in love with a mortal\, a forbidden act (Evil Woman). \nAs Sonny and Kira discover a rundown theater that might just become their dream (Suddenly)\, they cross paths with Danny Maguire\, a businessman whose own past with a Muse resurfaces in a flashback (Whenever You’re Away From Me). Soon\, visions collide\, disco lights flicker\, and the race begins to restore the theater\, now revealed to be named Xanadu\, before time runs out (Dancin’\, Strange Magic\, All Over the World). \nBut when Kira’s feelings grow too real\, the rules of Olympus come crashing down. She flees\, Sonny follows\, and the truth is revealed in a swirl of heartbreak\, Pegasus wings\, and suspended time (Suspended in Time). Brought before Zeus\, Aphrodite\, Thetis\, and Hera\, Kira faces judgment until mercy wins out (Have You Never Been Mellow). In the end\, Zeus grants her the chance to return to Earth as a mortal\, and the gift of Xanadu is finally realized (Xanadu). \nAt FYPA\, we believe youth theatre isn’t just for grandparents with cameras. It’s for everyone. Our young performers\, who represent seven southeast Iowa school districts\, train\, rehearse\, and create with a level of professionalism that invites audiences of all ages to experience theatre that is polished\, imaginative\, and culturally alive. \nXanadu Jr. is the perfect match for our mission: \n• It’s campy\, clever\, and joyfully self-aware\, a parody and a tribute in the same breath. \n• It celebrates creativity\, inspiration\, and the courage to dream big\, which is the heartbeat of FYPA. \n• It gives young artists the chance to perform material that is both theatrically rich and musically iconic. \n• And it invites audiences to connect with 1980 in whatever way they carry it: \no Lived it? You’ll feel the nostalgia. \no Heard stories about it? You’ll get the myth and the magic. \no Think the era was ridiculous? This show lovingly agrees and winks at you the whole time. \nThis is children’s theatre elevated\, with bold design\, original art\, next level choreography\, professional production values\, and storytelling that resonates far beyond the age of the performers\, all brought to you by an all star team of musical theatre production veterans. \nThe original Broadway production of Xanadu was nominated for four Tony Awards\, including Best Musical in 2008. And the soundtrack is a cultural time capsule of pure pop electricity. \nThe original film featured seven Top 20 hits\, powered by the unmistakable sound of Jeff Lynne and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and the legendary voice of Olivia Newton John. Songs like Magic\, Evil Woman\, All Over the World\, and Xanadu remain instantly recognizable across generations. \nThis isn’t just a musical. It’s a neon soaked\, roller skating\, synth shimmering celebration of an era that refuses to fade… in leg warmers. \n>>>Purchase Tickets Here

DESCRIPTION:Danielle Nicole Band — Coming to Fairfield \nPresented by the Southeast Iowa Blues Society \nTickets go on sale at the FACC Box Office in September 2026. \nGrammy-nominated bassist and vocalist Danielle Nicole brings her gutsy\, blues-soaked sound to Fairfield\, with special guest opener Matt Woods. Doors open at 6:00 PM with BBQ from Sweet N Saucy\, full bar available throughout the evening. \n6:00 PM — Doors Open with Sweet N Saucy BBQ\n7:00 PM — Matt Woods\n8:00 PM — Danielle Nicole Band \nDanielle Nicole\n“That girl gets down to the nitty gritty.” ~ Koko Taylor \nDanielle Nicole Schnebelen began music from the moment she was born. Musical influences from generations on both sides of her parent’s families ensured that a love of playing music would continue to be passed among her and her siblings. \nFans love her for her raw yet controlled vocals and her gutsy lyrics\, which act like a sucker punch on the often male-dominated blues scene. Critics love her for her obvious skill\, honed to a fine point and often garnering her critical acclaim and national awards. \nNicole’s distinctive\, inventive bass work—which resulted in her not only becoming the first woman to ever be nominated in the category of Instrumentalist – Bass in The Blues Foundation’s 2012 Blues Music Awards\, but also the first woman ever to receive the honor—is the product of years of intensive roadwork. \n\nAs a founding member of the “Heavy Blues” sibling band Trampled Under Foot\, she and her brothers took top honors at the International Blues Challenge in the US\, propelling them into Canada\, Scandinavia\, Europe\, UK and was featured on several Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruises. In 2015 Nicole set out on her own with the release of “Wolf Den” recorded in New Orleans with Anders Osborne. \nNicole’s 2017 release of “Cry No More” ushered in not only a heavier sound and style differentiating Nicole’s already broadening voice and writing\, but also accrued a slew of accolades including a 2019 Grammy Nomination for Contemporary Blues Album. She has now added 5 Blues Music Awards and 3 Independent Blue Music Awards to her trophy case. \n6:00 PM – Doors Open with Sweet N Saucy BBQ \n7:00 PM – Matt Woods \n8:00 PM – Danielle Nicole Band \nMatt Woods\nMatt Woods is both a native of Iowa\, and a longstanding purveyor of its diverse music scene.  As a seasoned performer of many local\, regional and national venues\, Matt has developed a distinct style while staying true to his love of traditional American music.  Woods is well versed in the many shapes this music can take; from traditional delta\, hill country and urban electric blues\, to gospel\, country and folk music. \n  \n\n
