SUMMARY:FACT Presents: Freaky Friday A New Musical
DESCRIPTION:Fairfield Area Community Theatre (FACT) proudly presents Freaky Friday A New Musical\, based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films. Bridget Carpenter\, co-executive producer and writer of the TV hits\, “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood” wrote the book. Music and lyrics are by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey\, the Pulitzer Prize-winning composers of Next to Normal and If/Then. An updated script and contemporary music make this an engaging\, modern\, relatable story. When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies\, they have just one day to put things right.  \nAccording to Music Theatre International\, the story is a “heartfelt\, comedic\, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other’s shoes\, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another’s struggles\, learn self-acceptance\, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter”. \nFreaky Friday stars local talents both on-stage and in the orchestra. Katherine and Ellie are played by Tena Edlin and Ella Holderbaum respectively. The production team consists of Betsie Wotherspoon\, Noel Wotherspoon\, Jim Edgeton\, and Rachel Biggs. \nFreaky Friday\, A New Musical is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. \nThis performance is not associated with the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s 2025-2026 Season.
