DESCRIPTION:We are not planning any weather related changes to the performance schedule this evening\, but we urge wise travel decisions and look forward to seeing you safely tonight! \nSince 1996\, Zakir Hussain has served as curator\, conductor\, and producer to bring the very cream of Indian music and world percussion to tour America and Europe with his series\, Zakir Hussain and Masters of Percussion. \nGrowing out of his renowned international tabla duet tours with his father\, the legendary Ustad Allarakha\, Masters of Percussion began as a platform for both popular and rarely heard rhythm traditions from India. While performing and collaborating in India for a few months every year\, Zakir has sought and unearthed lesser-known folk and classical traditions which feed into the greater stream of Indian music\, playing an educational role in affording them greater visibility\, as well as introducing them to audiences in the West. DESCRIPTION:We regret to announce that Odesa National Ballet of Ukraine has been forced to cancel their highly anticipated performance of Swan Lake at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center this spring. However\, we are excited to relay that Ballet Des Moines will be stepping in to replace the canceled performance with a revolutionary production entitled “SHE.”  \nThe cancellation of Swan Lake by the Ukrainian Odesa National Ballet was made necessary by the Russian conflict in the country and the crises it has caused at all levels of society. In an act of solidarity\, Ballet Des Moines will offer an alternative production\, to be performed at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center on Friday\, May 5th. A portion of the proceeds of this new event will go toward supporting the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund. \nIf you are a ticket holder for the original Swan Lake performance\, please look for communication via email and snail mail regarding this change.
